DEF COMEDY JAM was the most important start for so BLACK comedian's careers. It literally was the key that started the engine for me. For Joe he was already having success, but this took his career t oa whole new level. It was the MOSES of BLACK comedy. took a lot of brothers and sisters to the PROMISED LAND. 

This was the BEST thing to ever happened to BLACK comedy. LOVE it or HATE it, it introduced a culture of people who would have never had known that comedy comes in all kinds of forms, genders, ethnicities and styles. DEF COMEDY JAM just wasn't a comedy show, it was a culture, an attitude, a movement. It was NECESSARY. 

One of them is one of the  GREATEST OF ALL TIME, and the other is a CAPRICORN. Either way, both came through the portal of HBO'S DEF COMEDY JAM and were proud to represent our culture to the masses. It was great that NETFLIX recognized the contribution of this LEGENDARY showcase and honored it with a tribute show. THANK YOU for SEEING US.
